Facebook; most of us use it almost every day, doing pretty much the same things over and over again. Updating statuses, checking out friends’ profiles, downloading and uploading pictures and the occasional messaging, group chatting etc.
But, while most of us use Facebook every day,
the fact is that most of us also haven’t really tinkered with how all the above
things in Facebook can be done a bit differently, more easily, more
conveniently and maybe with a little less time and effort.
Here
are 10 Facebook usage tricks that we believe will definitely help you enjoy a
new and better Facebook experience.
1.Appear online only to selected friends :
Go
to Chat found at the lower right side of the page and then, click on gear icon
and click on advanced settings. A window would pop-up, now in the field which
says “Turn on chat for all friends, except..” start adding your friends name,
for whom you don’t want to appear online. With this, you now appear
completely invisible to them
2. Turn off Auto Play of Facebook Videos
2. Turn off Auto Play of Facebook Videos
Facebook
auto plays videos when ever you are checking the timeline. If you wish to
disable the auto-play of videos, you can do that by following these steps.
- Go to Facebook Settings >
Videos
- Turn off the auto play of Facebook
videos.
And
if you are from a country with slow internet speed, you can also change the
default quality to SD from HD.
3. Create Fake Facebook wall updates:
Have
you noticed those funny updates where you see popular public figures talking on
various buzzing news. If you not sure of what I’m talking about, refer to
below picture.
Don’t
you want to do the same? Well, you can with the help of this free tool call The
Wall Machine: The Funny Fake Facebook Walls. You can access
it here & watch the one minute video to understand how to
use this tool.
4.Facebook flip status updates :
Are
you in the mood to have a little fun? Try flipping your FB status upside down.
I’m sure your friends will be tilting their heads too trying to read your message.

5. Change your Status Update Font in Facebook
The next time you post your status update, do something cool and change your update’s font.By default, Facebook gives you only one font. It is nice but everyone uses the same font! Where is the fun in that! . Head over to this Facebook font page changer page on the web. Once there, type in your update and then copy paste one of the funky styles you see, right into your status update page in Facebook. Your updates can then look like this!
6. Sync your Facebook Calendar with Google Calendar:
You would probably call your Google Calendar your secretary, wouldn’t you? That is how important Google Calendar has become for most people. Have you unsuccessfully tried to link one of your Facebook calendar events to your Google Calendar? It is actually a piece of cake! Follow the steps below.Go to Events in Facebook. Choose the upcoming tab and then click on the Options tab. Once there, you can choose the export event option, like shown below.
Once
you have copied the address, head on over to your Google Calendar. On the left
hand tab, you will see an option called Other Calendars. Click on the drop down
arrow next to it and then choose “Add by URL” as shown below.
That’s
it. Your Facebook Calendar event is now neatly synced into your Google
Calendar, with all the details you had on Facebook.
7. Stump your Friends with a “Blank” comment!
They
will surely ask you what you intended to type after seeing your blank comment,
like below. This little prank can be a great conversation starter if you
think about it!
To
leave a blank comment, hold down the Alt key on your keyboard and then type
“0173”. Then, release all keys and press enter. You just left a puzzling blank
comment!
8. Choose Who Sees You Online on Chat?
By
default, when you are online and on chat, your name will have a green circle
next to it, indicating that you are online and ready to chat away.
While
you might be in the mood to chat with just some people on your FB friend list,
chat initiations from certain friends or just acquaintances can rather be more
of a nuisance. Once again, just like how you can selectively share your status
updates with certain people, you can choose to be shown as online in chat only
for some people.Click on the little Settings gear icon on
the right hand corner in the small Chat window that you see at the bottom of
Facebook.
Once there, enter people that you want to
be seen as available to chat with or leave out people who you don’t want to see
you as online. Then, save the new settings and enjoy Facebook chat only with
people you actually want to chat with!

with a Chrome Extension
Do
Facebook ads annoy you? Do they distract your otherwise enjoyable Facebook
experience? After all, who wants to see a weight loss ad when you are looking
at your friend’s awesome adventure vacation photo album?

the Facebook AdBlock extension in
Chrome makes blocking Facebook ads real easy. Just install the extension and
activate it to enjoy a ad-free experience, like the screenshot shown below!
10. Retrieve messages from long lost friends
Not
a lot of people know of this but Facebook has an automatic filtering system
when it comes to your messages. While messages from your friends get a
prominent notifications, messages from people who are not on your contact list
and with whom you don’t have any mutual friends will silently go into the
“Other” folder, without any notifications.
In
all probability, this folder will contain messages like promotions, spam and
maybe even the odd creepy messages from stalkers, with the latter being
probable if you are a woman. But, once in a while, you will see a message from
a dear friend you might have completely lost track of, in this “Other” folder.
Doesn’t hurt to check it out once in a while, just for this reason.
11. Delete Facebook Account for Good!
Facebook
is great for billions of people. For some though, it might have just become a
nuisance. If you are the type that never uses your Facebook account and never
plan to again, it makes sense to completely delete your account and not just
let your profile catch dust out there, somewhere in cyberspace. To
completely delete your account and go off the Facebook radar, choose one of the
following options. Go to Settings > Security > Deactivate your Account.
Once there, you will see a bunch of reasons why you want to deactivate your
account. Choose one that suits you and then deactivate account. If you own
Facebook pages, you will get a warning saying that such pages will be
deactivated as well, unless of course you assign some people as admin
While deactivating your
Facebook account, you can still choose to receive emails if you get tagged, if
you get invited to groups etc. Check or uncheck this box based on your
preference and then confirm deactivation to get off Facebook for good.

Facebook
recently introduced cool new “reactions” that you can use instead of the same
old “like” button and thanks to some cool browser extensions, you can give it a
twist. The Reaction Packs extension available on Chrome & Firefox lets you replace the usual Facebook
reactions to anything you like. From Donald Trump faces to Game of Thrones
characters and more. You can even go ahead and add your very own reaction pack.

official website and select
a pack you like. Then, refresh
your Facebook tab and
you should see the reaction pack in effect.

While this is convenient, it can be an annoyance, if you want to open a message but don’t want to respond immediately. Thankfully, there are browser extensions that let you disable the “Seen” feature. All you need to do is install the Unseen extension on Chrome and turn on the option to block the “Seen” feature. Once done, you can easily read messages without people knowing you have read their message. Firefox users can install the Facebook Message Seen Disable extension to disable “Seen” on Facebook.
14. Download your Facebook data
If you have been using Facebook for a number of years now, your account must pack-in tons of your personal data like photos, videos, posts, messages, info and more. And the good thing is Facebook lets you download all of your profile data.To do it, just head over to Facebook Settings and in the “General” tab, you should see an option at the bottom saying “Download a copy of your Facebook data“.
Then, click “Start My Archive“, after which Facebook
will prompt you to enter your password again, as a security measure. Facebook
will then gather all your data and send you an email once the download is
ready.

Have you ever
tried inviting your friends to like your cool new Facebook page? Inviting them
one by one can be a daunting task. Thankfully, a cool browser extension dubbed

once.
To do it, install
the extension on Chrome or Firefox and then go
to the page where you
want to invite people. Click on the “Invite
friends to like this page” and a pop-up should open up.

click on the extension icon at the top right and all the friends will be
